The Visual and Spiritual
Leticia Morales’ art is borne from a desire to renovate modern society’s spiritual search that is struggling to escape consumer materialism; a desire to build a bridge between the onlooker and the transcendent through her art. Her style incorporates a conservative attitude into the concept of her pieces that pursues an ambience of esthetic experience, easily synthesizable and centered on a discourse of its forms, composition and textures. One must recognize its quality and coherence dominated by a calmed, symbolic order and objective-esthetics that are brought closer to contemplation, and distanced from disquieting, inquisitive action. Withdrawn from an exclusive commercial interest, she seeks personal spiritual empathy while maintaining her commitment to constructing a return to the creative value of images; a creative value that is linked to emotion felt from the material, that vindicates the appraisal of the visual, and that is stimulated by the journey of the image within modern culture.
Through sensitive representations, she grasps onto an objective production in her attempt to overcome the existing distance between the individual, society and the cosmos. It is art as mediation towards the Absolute, moving closer to the romantic focus in which human essence surpasses the sphere of awareness and reason. Leticia rouses the affirmation of the individual in its esthetic and imaginative dimensions. Creative action that implants itself in the phenomenology of the esthetic object: Vindication of the esthetic experience within the contemplation of the object’s sensitive appearance by which significant transcendence is reached; synthesis of the artist’s vital experience.
